Choosing The Best Tactical Folder - What Should You Look For?
Posted on: September 3, 2011
If you are trying to decide what kind of tactical folder to buy, there are some things you must consider. Knowing what your ultimate goal is for carrying a folding knife will help steer you in the right direction when making your decision. Although you may end up making more than one purchase over time, you want to make sure you buy what is appropriate for you.
What kind of climate do you live in? This could be a factor in the type of blade material the knife is made from. If you live in a wet or very humid climate consider getting corrosion resistant steel like one of the stainless variations. Being in a freezing location may have an effect on the blades performance, could it make the steel more brittle? This is open for debate but is worth thinking over.
There are different blade finishes to consider. You can get a satin finish, polished or one of the coated blades. Which ever one you choose, they will all show wear and scratches. The coated blades will help protect from corrosion except for the cutting edge which is exposed. A satin blade will prevent any glare from light.
All that aside, the most important thing to consider is how it feels in your hand. If you have a knife that does not fit you or feels awkward to you it will not get used. Take some time and look around your area to find the knives you are considering, see how it feels in your hand. Once you find your knife, do some price comparisons to find the best deal.
